Sierra Nevada Hotel Sierra Nevada Mountains Sierra Nevada Ski Resort

Ski Sierra Nevada, Introduction

I first went on a ski-ing holiday 30 years ago and fell completely in love with the sport. Nine years ago I changed to snowboarding and liked it more than ski-ing. I have been on a ski-ing holiday at least twice a year ever since my first experience and have visited many ski destinations in Europe. For some reason I never had the desire to visit Sierra Nevada, or Sol Y Neive (Sun and Snow) as it used to be called. I had the impression you skied on sheet ice in the morning and slush in the afternoons! How wrong could I be!?

Two years ago I moved to a beautiful village near Granada, in the province of Andalucia, Southern Spain, The village, called Pinos Genil, is 10 minutes from the centre of Granada and is also situated on the lower slopes of the Sierra Nevada (Snowy Mountain Range).

To my great delight I found out that I could drive up to the ski station of Pradollano in less than 25 minutes. After boarding every piste and some great off-piste, I knew that the ski area was equal to, if not better than, many I have visited in the rest of Europe. Happy Days!

Sierra Nevada Accommodation, Where to Stay
If you choose to stay in Sierra Nevada it is very convenient for ski-ing, however, accommodation can be rather expensive.

A far more economical option would be to stay in Pinos Genil. If the weather is bad or you just want a day off then the historic city of Granada with its magnificent historic Moorish architecture, authentic Spanish existence and vibrant night life is only a 10 minute drive away. You can find more information on the Apartments Granada Spain website.
